Carlos
Muņoz was born in Tulua, Columbia. At the age of 15 he immigrated to
the United States, settling in Queens, New York where he later attended
New York's Delahanty Institute and immersed himself in the study of radio,
electronics and television. In 1977, his hard work, skill, and
passion for telephony landed him a job with the PBX pioneer, Rolm
Corporation. He continued to work for Rolm Corporation until 1991
when he purchased a division of the company and founded CAM
Communications.
In 1998, he sold CAM Communications to GMSI while maintaining a respectable percentage of the firm in his own name and continuing to serve as CEO, operating the company as a virtually independent operation. Later that year, CAM Communications became a certified minority vendor, having survived the rigorous three- to four-year certification process of the Verizon Diversity Sourcing Program. Today, Carlos Muņoz and CAM Communications are one of over 300 Verizon A-rated suppliers. Mr. Muņoz boasts a 23-year career of technical management, consulting and quality control during which he has managed over $200 million worth of voice and data installations.
